We’re not appendage of PDP — Chair
The National chairman of the Young Democratic Party (YDP), Barrister (Mrs.) Aye Georgina Dakpokpo, has debunked insinuations in political quarters that the newly register party is an appendage of PDP.
She stated this while fielding questions from journalists, shortly after the Delta State chapter of YDP concluded its congress and swore-in newly elected state officers.
“We see ourselves as the vanguard of the nation and we have the verve to take Nigeria to places,” she said.
“We are not an appendage of PDP or any political party. Today, we have started a revolution and a movement; we believe it’s time for the youths to take over leadership of this country. We are young and old enough,” she said.
According to her, the party would field candidates in all elections, including the Anambra State governorship election coming up in November.
“YDP stands for the young people and for those who are young at heart. It is for the upwardly mobile young entrepreneurs, professionals and every young person. Today is our tomorrow; it is the party for the youths,” she added.
