Hoopers hungry for victory as basketball league season ends

- By Orkula Shaagee

Rivers Hoopers Basketball Club says it is aiming for victory as the regular season of the 2016/2017 Kwese Premier Basketball League ends on Saturday.

Rivers Hoopers and Kwara Falcons are currently 1st and 2nd respectively on the Atlantic Conference log.

The league teams were in for a tough battle at both ends of the table, with the top two battling for supremacy and the last two struggling to survive relegation.

The Hoopers’ Media Officer, Queen John, who disclosed in a statement she issued yesterday, said that Hoopers had lost four games in the league, one less than their nearest rival, Kwara Falcons.

She said a win in their last two games would ensure the Kings’ Men end the regular season at the top of the Atlantic Conference table.

John quoted Hoopers’ coach Ogoh Odaudu as saying that the last two games would prepare those games for the Conference VI play-offs.

“From now, it is practice for us and we are trying to put in place all the things we are going to do in the play-offs.

“We are going to approach the two games the way we have approached every other game at the beginning of the season.

“We are not saying because we have qualified so we should go out there and lose the two games.

“It will not send a good message to our sponsor and the players. So, we are going to go all out and keep that winning mentality going into the playoffs,” she further quoted coach Odaudu.
