Don’t entrust your children to teachers — Bishop tells parents

- From Emma Elekwa, Awka

The Anglican Bishop of Awka Diocese, Rt. Rev. Alexander Ibezim, has urged parents to take full responsibility of their children by taking their training seriously in order not to regret their inaction in future.

Bishop Ibezim described as risky the attitude of parents who abandoned the training of their wards to teachers in pursuit of money, saying the responsibility of parenting is too enormous for teachers to shoulder alone.

Speaking during the graduation, 2017 valedictory service and Prize Giving Day of the Bishop Crowther Seminary, Awka, Anambra State, the cleric argued that teachers have their challenges which may constitute a distraction to taking adequate care of the children.

“Don’t entrust your children to teachers while spending time hunting for money. The teachers have their challenges which may not give them room to take good care of your children,” he stated.

He further charged parents not to under rate their children, but to create time to monitor their actions so as to positively reap from them later in life.

Bishop Ibezim admonished the graduating students to be good ambassadors of the school wherever they found themselves, urging them to shun cultism, armed robbery, homosexualism, lesbianism and other vices.

Earlier, the principal of the school, Venerable Nnamdi Emendu, commended the proprietor, Bishop Ibezim, the old boys, teachers and parents for their moral and financial support towards the progress and development recorded in the school.

He pledged their continuous readiness to impact positively on the students to equip them properly as future leaders.

Responding, one of the students, Chinedu Ezeamama, promised to be a good ambassador of the institution wherever he found himself.
