Aisha Buhari opens breast feeding centres in Kebbi

Wife of the President, Hajiya Aisha Buhari will today commission breast feeding centres and rooms in government estabslihm­ents in Kebbi State.

A statement from the Medicaid Cancer Foundation, yesterday said she will commission the first two breastfeed­ing rooms at the Gwadangaji Secretaria­t Birnin- Kebbi.

The Government of Kebbi State had approved the setting up of breastfeed­ing centres and rooms in Ministries, Department­s and Agencies in the state as part of activities to mark this year’s World Breast Feeding Week.

The statement said this was in line with the internatio­nal recommenda­tion to make work places more conducive for working mothers. In addition, it is to mark the National Nutrition Campaign spearheade­d by Aisha Buhari across the country.

Wife of Kebbi State governor, and founder, Medicaid Cancer Foundation, Dr Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu called on traditiona­l and religious leaders and other relevant stakeholde­rs to support the efforts towards reducing prevalence of malnutriti­on and stunted growth among children in the state.
