Aisha Buhari opens breast feed­ing cen­tres in Kebbi

Wife of the Pres­i­dent, Ha­jiya Aisha Buhari will to­day com­mis­sion breast feed­ing cen­tres and rooms in gov­ern­ment es­tab­slih­ments in Kebbi State.

A state­ment from the Med­i­caid Can­cer Foun­da­tion, yes­ter­day said she will com­mis­sion the first two breast­feed­ing rooms at the Gwadan­gaji Sec­re­tariat Birnin- Kebbi.

The Gov­ern­ment of Kebbi State had ap­proved the set­ting up of breast­feed­ing cen­tres and rooms in Min­istries, De­part­ments and Agen­cies in the state as part of ac­tiv­i­ties to mark this year’s World Breast Feed­ing Week.

The state­ment said this was in line with the in­ter­na­tional rec­om­men­da­tion to make work places more con­ducive for work­ing moth­ers. In ad­di­tion, it is to mark the Na­tional Nu­tri­tion Cam­paign spear­headed by Aisha Buhari across the coun­try.

Wife of Kebbi State gov­er­nor, and founder, Med­i­caid Can­cer Foun­da­tion, Dr Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu called on tra­di­tional and re­li­gious lead­ers and other rel­e­vant stake­hold­ers to sup­port the ef­forts to­wards re­duc­ing preva­lence of mal­nu­tri­tion and stunted growth among chil­dren in the state.
