Former Bauchi deputy gov Gadi buried in Azare

Thou­sands of peo­ple, in­clud­ing Gov­er­nor Mo­hammed Abubakar, Speaker of the Bauchi State House of As­sem­bly Kawuwa Shehu Dam­ina and nu­mer­ous other serv­ing and re­tired gov­ern­ment of­fi­cials, politi­cians, tra­di­tional rulers and ti­tle hold­ers thronged Azare in Bauchi State for the fu­neral of former deputy gov­er­nor, Al­haji Garba Mo­hammed Gadi.

Gadi who died last Tues­day in In­dia was buried Sat­ur­day af­ter a fu­neral prayer held at the palace of the Emir of Azare.

The fu­neral prayer was led by the Chief Imam of Azare Cen­tral Mosque, Mal­lam Ayuba Mo­hammed.

Emir of Katagum, Dr. Mo­hammed Kabir Umar was rep­re­sented at the fu­neral prayer by District Head of Shira, Al­haji Baba Umar Farouq.

Speak­ing to jour­nal­ists af­ter the fu­neral prayer, Gov­er­nor Abubakar said Bauchi State had lost an il­lus­tri­ous son and an el­der states­man who was stead­fast, com­mit­ted and hon­est.

He said the pres­ence of so many peo­ple at the fu­neral showed the love peo­ple had for Gadi.

On his part, the mem­ber rep­re­sent­ing Azare fed­eral con­stituency, Ibrahim Baba Katagum de­scribed late Gadi as a con­sum­mate politi­cian and a great phi­lan­thropist who ded­i­cated his life to the ser­vice of his peo­ple.

Other dig­ni­taries who at­tended the fu­neral prayer in­cluded former Sec­re­tary to the Gov­ern­ment of the Fed­er­a­tion (SGF), Al­haji Mah­moud Yay­ale Ahmed, Sen­a­tor Babayo Garba Ga­mawa, Dr. Bello Katagum, among others.
