Former Bauchi deputy gov Gadi buried in Azare
Thousands of people, including Governor Mohammed Abubakar, Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly Kawuwa Shehu Damina and numerous other serving and retired government officials, politicians, traditional rulers and title holders thronged Azare in Bauchi State for the funeral of former deputy governor, Alhaji Garba Mohammed Gadi.
Gadi who died last Tuesday in India was buried Saturday after a funeral prayer held at the palace of the Emir of Azare.
The funeral prayer was led by the Chief Imam of Azare Central Mosque, Mallam Ayuba Mohammed.
Emir of Katagum, Dr. Mohammed Kabir Umar was represented at the funeral prayer by District Head of Shira, Alhaji Baba Umar Farouq.
Speaking to journalists after the funeral prayer, Governor Abubakar said Bauchi State had lost an illustrious son and an elder statesman who was steadfast, committed and honest.
He said the presence of so many people at the funeral showed the love people had for Gadi.
On his part, the member representing Azare federal constituency, Ibrahim Baba Katagum described late Gadi as a consummate politician and a great philanthropist who dedicated his life to the service of his people.
Other dignitaries who attended the funeral prayer included former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Alhaji Mahmoud Yayale Ahmed, Senator Babayo Garba Gamawa, Dr. Bello Katagum, among others.
