18 il­le­gal Togo, Benin Repub­lic im­mi­grants ar­rested

Some 18 il­le­gal mi­grants from neigh­bour­ing Togo and Benin Repub­lic have been ar­rested by the op­er­a­tives of the Nige­ria Im­mi­gra­tion Ser­vice (NIS) in Abeokuta, Ogun State cap­i­tal.

The il­le­gal mi­grants, 10 from Benin and eight from Togo, were ar­rested last Thurs­day, at Akeere vil­lage, near Ka­jola Es­tate in Bode Olude, Elega area of Abeokuta North lo­cal gov­ern­ment area of the state, ac­cord­ing to the state Im­mi­gra­tion Comptroller, Aji­bola Bayeroju, who said the ar­rests were part of moves to check the in­flux of il­le­gal aliens.

Bayeroju who said the state com­mand em­barked on the raid fol­low­ing an in­tel­li­gence re­port, added that the im­mi­grants would be pro­filed and repa­tri­ated.
