Herders planning invasion of Benue – Ortom
Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has alleged plans by herders across West Africa to launch an attack on the state.
Ortom said the invasion was meant to thwart the implementation of his antiopen grazing law.
Ortom who spoke weekend at the funeral service for the late Mama Atese Rebecca Terkpe at the NKST Church, Taraku in Gwer Local Government Area of the state, said he received security reports indicating the invasion, and urged the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to pray for divine intervention, insisting that the anti-open grazing law was the best solution for restoring peace between farmers and herders.
