Cus­toms in­ter­cepts over N8bn goods

The Oyo/Osun Com­mand of the Nige­ria Cus­toms Ser­vice has in­ter­cepted goods worth N8.895bil­lion across the two states of the com­mand.

The area con­troller, UdoAka Em­manuel made the dis­clo­sure while giv­ing a re­port on the ac­tiv­i­ties of the com­mand be­tween Jan­uary and June this year, say­ing the com­mand had made 57 seizures of var­i­ous items such as tex­tile ma­te­ri­als, rice, footwear, and ve­hi­cles.

He put the rev­enue col­lected from im­ports and ex­ports dur­ing the pe­riod un­der re­view at N7.2 bil­lion.

Ndo-Aka said smug­gling was in­im­i­cal to the na­tion, warn­ing those in it to purge them­selves or be ready for pros­e­cu­tion.
