ECONOMIC INSIGHT SON certifies 11 manufacturers in Sokoto
The Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON) has certified 11 manufacturers who are among the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the food chain and chemical industries in Sokoto State.
Speaking while presenting the Mandatory Conformity Assessment Programme (MANCAP) certificates to the awardees, SON’s DirectorGeneral, Mr Osita Aboloma, commended them for the “resilience path taken to get their products certified.”
The DG who was represented by SON Regional Coordinator North West, Dauda Yakubu, said the MANCAP scheme was aimed at protecting genuine manufacturers against unhealthy practices as well as unfair competition in trade.
“The scheme also provides consumers with confidence that products manufactured in Nigeria are fit, safe and meet the intended use,” he said.
He added that the scheme ensures that all manufactured products conform to the relevant Nigerian Industrial Standards (NIS) requirements prior to sales in the market or export.
“The award is important and timely considering the diversification drive of the Federal Government and the need for every sector of the economy to key into this strategy direction for speedy economic growth to put an end to current economic recession,” he asserted.
