Abductors of ECWA director insist on N100m ransom

- From Lami Sadiq, Jos

The Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN) yesterday said there are high indications that the abducted Christian Education Director of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) Rev. Jen Moses was being tortured by his abductors who are insisting on N100 million for his freedom.

The reverend was said to have been abducted by kidnappers Friday night along Jere-Bwari road in the FCT where he was scheduled to attend a training.

YOWICAN National President Daniel Kadzai told Daily Trust that the abductors had continued to reach out to the church and were insistent on the N100 million ransom. He said, “We have communicated with the director and based on his speech, it seems to us that he is being tortured. We are worried, we have been praying and we appeal to Nigerians to pray with us.”

Kadzai who is also a member of ECWA condemned what he described as an attack on Christian clerics and leaders and called for the unconditional release of Rev. Moses.

“The church is looking for the most conducive and safe means of getting the Christian education director out of captivity and we are confident in the ability of the Nigerian police especially since its breakthrough in the arrest of notorious kidnapper, Evans,” he said.

Daily Trust could not reach the General Secretary of ECWA, Rev. Yunusa Nmadu, as he was out of town and possibly out of network coverage.
