In­sur­gency: North­ern govs do­nate N360m to Borno

Eigh­teen north­ern gover­nors yes­ter­day do­nated N360 mil­lion to the Borno State govern­ment to solve some of its Boko Haram-re­lated prob­lems.

The gover­nors sent a del­e­ga­tion of four: Mo­hammed Bin­dow of Adamawa State, Nasir el-Rufa’i of Kaduna, Aminu Tam­buwal of Sokoto and Aminu Masari of Katsina to de­liver their con­do­lence mes­sage to the govern­ment and peo­ple of Borno State over re­cent at­tacks by the Boko Haram in­sur­gents.

The leader of the del­e­ga­tion Aminu Mas­sari said, “The North­ern Gover­nors Fo­rum de­cided to do­nate N360 mil­lion. Each of the 18 states con­trib­uted N20 mil­lion. I have with me here some of the cheques and of course cash. The re­main­ing will reach you be­fore this week­end. We to­tally con­demn the ac­tions of Boko Haram. We also as­sure the peo­ple of Borno State that the North­ern Gover­nors Fo­rum has de­cided never to fold our arms to watch things hap­pen. It is our fight and our col­lec­tive re­spon­si­bil­ity to re­store peace in the north­east and Nige­ria,” Masari said.

Re­spond­ing, Gov Kashim Shet­tima thanked the north­ern gover­nors for their sup­port.
