Insurgency: Northern govs donate N360m to Borno
Eighteen northern governors yesterday donated N360 million to the Borno State government to solve some of its Boko Haram-related problems.
The governors sent a delegation of four: Mohammed Bindow of Adamawa State, Nasir el-Rufa’i of Kaduna, Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto and Aminu Masari of Katsina to deliver their condolence message to the government and people of Borno State over recent attacks by the Boko Haram insurgents.
The leader of the delegation Aminu Massari said, “The Northern Governors Forum decided to donate N360 million. Each of the 18 states contributed N20 million. I have with me here some of the cheques and of course cash. The remaining will reach you before this weekend. We totally condemn the actions of Boko Haram. We also assure the people of Borno State that the Northern Governors Forum has decided never to fold our arms to watch things happen. It is our fight and our collective responsibility to restore peace in the northeast and Nigeria,” Masari said.
Responding, Gov Kashim Shettima thanked the northern governors for their support.
