Kaduna pro­cures 256,182 chairs for pub­lic schools

The Kaduna State govern­ment has awarded con­tracts for the sup­ply of 256,182 chairs to pub­lic schools across the state.

This was con­tained in a doc­u­ment ob­tained from the state Min­istry of Ed­u­ca­tion, Sci­ence and Tech­nol­ogy, which said con­tracts for the sup­ply of 186,182 chairs un­der the Ed­u­ca­tion Emer­gency In­ter­ven­tion Pro­gramme had been awarded.

It said 167,982 of the chairs were for pri­mary schools while 18,200 were for the se­condary schools, and that an­other con­tract was awarded for the sup­ply of ad­di­tional 70,000 units of chairs, bring­ing the to­tal to 256,182.

The Com­mis­sioner of Ed­u­ca­tion, Pro­fes­sor An­drew Nok, said 90,000 chairs had so far been sup­plied to schools.

Speak­ing yes­ter­day while tak­ing de­liv­ery of 700 chairs at the Govern­ment Day Se­condary School, Sabon Tasha, he as­sured of the state govern­ment’s com­mit­ment to­wards pro­vid­ing ad­e­quate in­fra­struc­ture to pub­lic schools.
