NSCDC ar­rests ex-con­vict over theft in Ji­gawa

The Nige­ria Se­cu­rity and Civil De­fence Corps (NSCDC), Ji­gawa Com­mand yes­ter­day said it ar­rested a 24-year-old ex-con­vict over al­leged theft of a tablet and two smart phones.

The NSCDC Com­man­dant in the state, Malam Muham­mad Du­ru­min-Iya, told news­men in Dutse that the sus­pect, a res­i­dent of Yal­wawa quar­ters, was ar­rested in Rafin­sany­iSanyi area, in Dutse Lo­cal Govern­ment Area of the state.

Du­ru­min-Iya said the sus­pect was ar­rested af­ter he bur­gled the res­i­dence of some youth corps mem­bers on Aug. 3 at Sabuwar Maran­juwa quar­ters at about 9.30 p.m.

“The sus­pect sneaked into the apart­ment of the corps mem­bers while they were asleep and carted away one Techno tablet, Techno N9 smart­phone and one Gion­nee smart­phone.

“The tablet is val­ued at N25,000, the Techno smart­phone N16,000 and the Gionee smart­phone costs N32,000.

“The sus­pect is an ex-con­vict. He was ar­rested last year and charged to court for bur­glary and was im­pris­oned for two months,” the com­man­dant said

Du­rum-Iya said the sus­pect had con­fessed to com­mit­ting the of­fence and would soon be charged to court. (NAN)
