- From Eugene Agha, Lagos

A 23-year-old man, Nurudeen Atanda, has narrated how he and three others removed the roof of a boutique with the intention of stealing the cloths in it.

The suspect and three others currently at large committed the offence at 4.30 am at Ekoro Road, Abule-Egba, a Lagos suburb.

The suspect who appeared yesterday at an Ikeja Magistrate Court on a twocount charge of conspiracy and intent to commit felony, was sentenced to a month in jail after he pleaded guilty.

The Magistrate, Mrs I.O. Raji, who said she found the accused guilty, said,

“You are hereby sentenced to one month imprisonment with hard labour and without an option of fine.”

Earlier, the prosecutor, Sergeant Yomi Egunjobi, told the court that the accused with others still at large were heard at the scene of the crime by security guards who raised an alarm that attracted the occupants and prompted the accused to rush down from the roof and to take to their heels.

“They were given a hot chase but only the accused was arrested while his accomplices escaped,” the prosecutor disclosed.
