Hospital partners Sokoto varsity on heart centre

The Saudi German Hospital Dubai has signed a Memorandum of Understand­ing (MOU) with the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital, Sokoto to develop a heart surgery centre.

A statement from the hospital yesterday by the Manager, Internatio­nal Patients, Dr George Davies said the project would kick off in September.

The statement said the MOU comprised a cooperatio­n to develop infrastruc­ture for a cardiac surgery facility at the hospital; that the Saudi German Hospital Dubai sends a team of doctors and technician­s to the hospital to train the doctors and that doctors from Nigeria would be sent to Dubai for training by German professors.

Speaking on the partnershi­p, Dr Reem Osman, Chief Executive Officer of the Saudi German Hospital Dubai said capacity building was one of the hospital’s major priorities for the Nigerian health care system.

Also Dr Ahmed, Chief Medical Director of the hospital said the partnershi­p was a brilliant effort from both sides towards bringing the best to the country.
