Hospi­tal part­ners Sokoto var­sity on heart cen­tre

The Saudi Ger­man Hospi­tal Dubai has signed a Mem­o­ran­dum of Un­der­stand­ing (MOU) with the Us­manu Dan­fodiyo Univer­sity Teach­ing Hospi­tal, Sokoto to de­velop a heart surgery cen­tre.

A state­ment from the hospi­tal yes­ter­day by the Man­ager, In­ter­na­tional Pa­tients, Dr Ge­orge Davies said the project would kick off in Septem­ber.

The state­ment said the MOU com­prised a co­op­er­a­tion to de­velop in­fra­struc­ture for a car­diac surgery fa­cil­ity at the hospi­tal; that the Saudi Ger­man Hospi­tal Dubai sends a team of doc­tors and tech­ni­cians to the hospi­tal to train the doc­tors and that doc­tors from Nigeria would be sent to Dubai for train­ing by Ger­man pro­fes­sors.

Speak­ing on the part­ner­ship, Dr Reem Os­man, Chief Ex­ec­u­tive Of­fi­cer of the Saudi Ger­man Hospi­tal Dubai said ca­pac­ity build­ing was one of the hospi­tal’s ma­jor pri­or­i­ties for the Nige­rian health care sys­tem.

Also Dr Ahmed, Chief Med­i­cal Di­rec­tor of the hospi­tal said the part­ner­ship was a bril­liant ef­fort from both sides to­wards bring­ing the best to the coun­try.
