Police kill 1, arrest 2 armed robbers in Katsina

The police in Katsina have killed one armed robber and arrested two others during a gun duel, the state Commissioner of Police Usman Abdullahi has said.

Speaking at a press conference, Abdullahi said the killed armed robber was among those who wore army uniforms and blocked Rumfar Yankifi along Tudun-Iya Gangara road, Funtua LGA, Katsina state.

One wooden toy gun, machete, and bunch of charms were recovered from the robber while search is on to apprehend the suspects that escaped with gun shots, the commissioner said

He said the command has arrested one Abdullahi Ibrahim, 28, of Kwado Kambarawa quarters Katsina, said to be a notorious member of robbery syndicate terrorizing Katsina state and its environs.

“The syndicate disguised themselves in police uniforms and invaded the house of one Alhaji Haruna Abubakar Mai-Adashi ‘m’ of Farin Yaro Quarters Katsina and robbed him of the sum of N1.2m” he said

He said the command also succeeded in the arrest of another notorious suspect Kabiru Saleh of Mahangi village, Kafur LGA, Katsina State.

Meanwhile, the command also arrested a notorious motorcycle thief, one Shamsu Sani, alias “Officer” of Barhim village Katsina state, who perpetrates his crime by disguising as a police officer.

A search was conducted in his house which led to the recovery of two stolen motorcycles (Jincheng and Boxer), a complete set of police uniform with Force Number 267490, one trouser of Police Mobile Police Uniform, one prisons service uniform trouser.
