Man arrested for beating girlfriend to death in Lagos

Detectives attached to the State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID), Lagos command, have arrested a 38-year-old man for allegedly beating his girlfriend, Rachael Osu to death in his apartment along Ago-Palace road.

The suspect, Victor Umeh, may be arraigned in court on or before next week Friday.

A police source said after killing his girlfriend, Victor started terrorizing the complainant, Chukwuyenum Osu, who happens to be the deceased elder brother.

The police source revealed that Rachael was confirmed dead after she was taken to a hospital.

A neighbour said the suspect was fond of beating the deceased at the slightest of provocation, and that attempt by sympathizers to mediate was often rebuffed.

Chukwuyenum Osu, the deceased’s elder brother, said he intended to pursue the matter to a logical conclusion to ensure justice for his late sister.

Lagos police spokesman, ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole, confirmed the incident.
