Police nab 2 robbery suspects, recover pistol at Waru
The FCT police have arrested two suspected robbers and recovered a locally made pistol at Waru village, an Abuja suburb on Sunday.
The Apo Divisional Police Officer, CSP Yahaya J. Jega, made this known while briefing the FCT Commissioner of Police, Musa Kimo, in his office on Monday.
He gave the names of the suspects as Kingsley Ewoh and Chidebere Ejike.
He said the suspects were arrested at about 5:30am after a distress call was placed to the division by a resident that suspected robbers were operating in a house.
He said the suspects were members of a notorious syndicate that attacked late night fun seekers at relaxation spots in the community.
They had dispossessed their victims of cash, handsets and other valuables before they were arrested, he said, adding that one of the suspects sustained injuries while trying to escape and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Other exhibits recovered from the suspects were four live cartridges, 10 phones, three wallets, and a quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
He said the police commissioner has ordered immediate transfer of the suspects to the criminal investigation department for further investigation.
