Po­lice nab 2 rob­bery sus­pects, re­cover pistol at Waru

The FCT po­lice have ar­rested two sus­pected rob­bers and re­cov­ered a lo­cally made pistol at Waru vil­lage, an Abuja sub­urb on Sun­day.

The Apo Divi­sional Po­lice Of­fi­cer, CSP Ya­haya J. Jega, made this known while brief­ing the FCT Com­mis­sioner of Po­lice, Musa Kimo, in his of­fice on Mon­day.

He gave the names of the sus­pects as Kings­ley Ewoh and Chide­bere Ejike.

He said the sus­pects were ar­rested at about 5:30am af­ter a dis­tress call was placed to the di­vi­sion by a res­i­dent that sus­pected rob­bers were op­er­at­ing in a house.

He said the sus­pects were mem­bers of a no­to­ri­ous syn­di­cate that at­tacked late night fun seek­ers at re­lax­ation spots in the com­mu­nity.

They had dis­pos­sessed their vic­tims of cash, hand­sets and other valu­ables be­fore they were ar­rested, he said, adding that one of the sus­pects sus­tained in­juries while try­ing to es­cape and was taken to hospi­tal for treat­ment.

Other ex­hibits re­cov­ered from the sus­pects were four live car­tridges, 10 phones, three wal­lets, and a quan­tity of dried leaves sus­pected to be In­dian hemp.

He said the po­lice com­mis­sioner has or­dered im­me­di­ate trans­fer of the sus­pects to the crim­i­nal in­ves­ti­ga­tion depart­ment for fur­ther in­ves­ti­ga­tion.
