We’II not allow any protest turn violent – Police

- By Abubakar Sadiq Isah

The FCT Commissioner of Police, Musa Kimo, has said the command will not allow any protest to lead to violence in the territory even as it recognises the constitutional rights of residents.

Kimo was speaking in the backdrop of a protest organised by a group, #OurMumuDonDo, at Unity Fountain in Abuja.

He said miscreants hijacked the protest adding that the police will not allow any protest under any guise to jeopardise the prevailing peace, law and order in the territory.

He said the quick intervention of the police prevented a breakdown of law and order during the protest.

He said the police dispersed some miscreants that infiltrated the group.

According to him, the same group had held a protest on Monday, at the same venue and were accorded necessary police presence to safeguard public safety and peace.

Kimo urged members of the public, parents and guardians, religious and opinion leaders and other stakeholders to caution their children against being used by any group to cause any disturbance in the territory.
