Rescue as ‘incapacitated’ man in just his pants dangles from ELECTRICITY PYLON 65ft above ground
This is the moment a man dangling from an electricity pylon 65ft from the ground was rescued after narrowly avoiding death on a high voltage power line. The 36-yearold was spotted hanging from a cable in Hutton, Lancashire, after climbing up the pylon Tuesday. Fortunately, the cable he was dangling from on the 275,000 volt line was switched off because it was undergoing maintenance at the time. The voltage is over 1,000 times higher than that of electricity running through UK households and could have instantly killed the man. Mountain rescue specialists from Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service (LFRS) had National Grid cut power to the surrounding cables on the high voltage line before returning him to the ground safely (above and below right). It is not known why the man climbed the pylon and police say he currently faces no charges after being taken to Royal Preston Hospital as a precaution. Bob Clare/SWNS.com
