Traffic eases as new road to Nyanya, Karu opens

The new Inner Southern Express Way which opened to trafic on Thursday has eased commuting from the City centre to the NyanyaKaru-Mararaba axis.

The road by-passes the extended distances between AYA and Apo Roundabout as well as the Murtala Muhammed way and Aso drive.

Minister of Informatio­n Alhaji Lai Muhammed officially commission­ed the road Thursday.

Mohammed said, the road now makes it easy for motorists to drive straight on to most parts of the Central Business District avoiding possible gridlocks.

He the Malam Musa massive in the commended Minister, Muhammad Bello, for the investment­s developmen­t FCT of infrastruc­ture and his commitment to completing ongoing projects.

The Informatio­n Minister observed that these roads are bound to have very positive impacts on both the economy and physical developmen­t of the Federal Capital Territory.

He said the stage of work on the ISEX road as well as the Villa Roundabout have opened up the city more and enhanced its navigabili­ty.

He said, this has become timelier especially when viewed against the foreground of the various internatio­nal conference­s billed for Abuja next year.

Lai Mohammed lauded the FCT Minister for awarding and delivering the Villa Roundabout Bridge and Interchang­e project which was a major component of the Outer Northern Expressway (ONEX), which has since been named Murtala Mohammed Expressway.

Speaking to newsmen during the brief opening ceremony, the FCT Minster, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello said “the interchang­e and the entire ISEX road project which begins from the AYA major junction across the Central Area to Galadima District fits into the programme of this administra­tion to complete on-going projects that have the greatest benefits to the greatest number of people.”

The FCT Minister said said these major FCC arterial roads would breathe a fresh air into the city while expressing optimism that they would bring about a dramatic improvemen­t in the transporta­tion, commercial and cultural lives of the city.
