Fadama trains specialists on modern agric for Yobe IDPs
FADAMA III AFII project in Yobe State has trained facilitators and farmers on data capturing and modern agricultural techniques that would improve the livelihood of Internally Displaced Persons who returned to farming in the liberated communities.
Speaking at a three-day workshop organised by the project, the state coordinator, Alhaji Musa Garba, said the session had trained subject matter specialists who would in turn train agricultural extension agents who would provide advisory services to beneficiaries.
“These include the extension services in production, livestock fishery,” he said.
He said the basic crop and participants, drawn from the four agricultural zones of the state, would provide the farmers with new techniques on seeds selection, fertilizer applications, disease detection and control, livestock and fishery production, among related fields.
A participant, Malam Bila Ali, lamented that the state used research documented over 30 years ago despite new available research, calling on stakeholders to access new and relevant information that would be beneficial to the farmers.
In a related development, the Fadama lll AF ll project also trained 27 facilitators on the use of PANEX Software to capture farmers data and tracking impact and replications of the Livelihood and Infrastructural supports they benefitted from the project.
