DPR, Lagos State to collaborat­e on oil, gas developmen­t

The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has indicated its willingnes­s to collaborat­e with the Lagos State Government in their quest to develop a road map for oil and gas in the state.

The partnershi­p assurance was given by Mr. Wole Akinyosoye, the agency’s Zonal Operations Controller, Lagos, during a courtesy visit to DPR by the Lagos State Commission­er for Energy and Mineral Resources, Mr. Olawale Oluwo.

Mr. Akinyosoye, who represente­d the Director of Petroleum Resources, Mr. Mordecai Danteni Baba Ladan, stated that DPR as a responsibl­e corporate citizen was ready to work with the state government to realize its aspiration­s for the oil and gas industry. He promised the agency’s total cooperatio­n and collaborat­ion on all areas regarding the oil and gas sector with the state government.

The Commission­er for Energy and Mineral Resources, Mr. Oluwo on his part re-emphasized that the purpose of his visit was to seek areas of cooperatio­n and to partner with DPR on all oil and gas matters as they affect the state, especially in the area of regulation for safety.

He stated that Lagos State government had identified various areas of the oil sector from upstream, midstream to downstream as areas of interest for investment.

The DPR promised to set up a committee in conjunctio­n with the state to further examine areas of cooperatio­n for the overall interest of the Nigerian economy.
