Mrs Osinbajo: How I tried to reform area boys

- By Taiwo Adeniyi

The wife of the Vice President, Mrs Dolapo Osinbajo, has narrated how she worked to reform touts in Lagos State.

Mrs Osinbajo, while addressing teenagers at a teens career conference organised by the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), The Everlasting Arm Parish (TEAP), Garki Abuja, said she spent about 10 years trying to reform area boys under some popular Lagos bridges while she was a teenage church teacher.

“Every kind of drug they take there is no one I didn’t know. I have seen it before and I have seen the effects as well and I will like you to know that the ones that use it are not different from you,” she told the teens gathered at the event.

Mrs Osinbajo, who is also a pastor at RCCG, said some of the people that engage in illicit drug were brought up with silver spoons but urged the teens to be exemplary in their conducts.

“Your gift and talent will be ruined if you are not an example in word and character. You must be courteous. You must ensure that your conduct is exemplary,” she said.

A former Minister of Education and Co-convener of the Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG), Oby Ezekwesili, said the teens should be prepared for the impending fourth industrial revolution if they want to be relevant in future while she urged them to be visionary and diligent in their endeavours.

One of the organisers, Segun Adeniyi said the event was aimed at bringing out the best in the teens with the help experienced people who had overcame what the teens are presently faced with.

Among dignitaries at event themed, “Life is stage,” was Richard Mofe Damifo.
