Withdrawal of quit notice in line with Buhari’s statement – Ganduje

- By Muideen Olaniyi

Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State says the withdrawal of quit notice by the Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG), earlier issued to the Igbo living in the North, is in agreement with the statement of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Governor Ganduje said this over the weekend, in Abuja, when he met with the leadership of the CNG led by its chairman, Amb. Shettima Yerima.

The governor said the decision was an outcome of the meetings convened with the CNG and Igbo leaders in Kano.

He commended the efforts of both the Igbo and northern leaders which led to the decision announced on Wednesday.

The governor, who noted that problems arose when one tribe began to see itself as indispensable, advised all the tribes in Nigeria to come together and manage their differences in a positive way.

He said since Nigeria was blessed with different ethnic nationalities and languages, each tribe must have its comparative advantages.

“They have formally withdrawn the quit notice. Weeks back, we hosted ezes from the 19 northern states together with the coalition. We were in Kano together. We provided conducive environment. A committee of 10 was constituted, five persons from each side. Last Wednesday’s decision was the outcome of that meeting with the withdrawal of the quit notice given to the Igbo,” he said.
