We shall take over all FCT area councils in 2019 – PDP chairman

- By Abubakar Sadiq Isah

The acting chairman of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the FCT, Alhaji Ibrahim Biko, has boasted that the party will take over the six area councils from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and APGA in the 2019 council polls.

Biko stated this when he presented the PDP flag to the chairmanship aspirant of the ruling APC during the last council election in Kuje, Alhaji Hassan Bako, who formerly defected to PDP in the area yesterday.

He said the party was re-strategising from the state down to the ward level to ensure that all its members and stakeholders were united and work hard to take over from the ruling APC.

“The only problem PDP has in the FCT is leadership problem at the state level which was dangling without proper coordination, but now we have resolved that and I am confident that PDP shall take over the six area councils in 2019,” he said.

Also speaking, the former chairman of the council, Shaban Ishaku Tete, commended the former APC chairmanship aspirant and his supporters for defecting to the PDP.

“I want to use the occasion to formally make it clear that I am not contesting for chairman again. I want to stand by the earlier agreement that I was to serve one term as Kuje chairman, which I give thanks to God for as I have already done that,” he said.

City News reports that among notable politicians that defected to PDP, were APC elders, Alhaji Adamu Dan Fulani, Dikko Usman, Lucky Bala, Kantoma Dalhatu, and Alhaji Isiaka Rubochi.
