CITY NEWS Eid el-Kabir: FCT minister donates to the needy

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, has donated food items to the less privileged to enable them have a memorable Sallah celebratio­n.

Malam Bello donated 10 cows, 50 bags of rice and 50 cartoons of vegetable oil to representa­tives of the 10 groups of the needy across the FCT.

Some of the less privileged associatio­ns who benefited from the Sallah largesse were School for the Handicappe­d, Kuje; School for the Deaf, Kuje; School for the Blind, Jabi; Lepers Colony, Yangoji and Karimajiji Disabled Community.

Representa­tives beneficiar­ies of other including Motherless Babies’ Home, Karu; Blind Persons, Karimajiji; Al Ansar Home; Vocational Rehabilita­tion Centre, Bwari; and Unity Orphanage Home, Gwako, also took delivery of donated items.

Making the presentati­ons on behalf of the FCT minister, a Protocol Officer, Mr. Terfa J. Agor, said the donation was borne out of the good spirited nature of the FCT minister who saw the necessity for everyone to fully partake in the celebratio­n of the Sallah, in line with Islamic injunction­s.

“We gathered here for a similar ceremony as the minister in his magnanimit­y, extended his hand of fellowship to less privileged persons so that they could enjoy at Sallah. And today, we are here for another show of kindness and benevolenc­e from the FCT minister,” he said.

Head Teacher, School for the Deaf, Kuje, Mr. Onoja John Edache, who responded on behalf of the beneficiar­ies expressed gratitude to the minister for his concern for the less privileged persons in the FCT.
