CITY NEWS Abeokuta communities, 118 persons get boreholes, financial aids
Six Community Development Associations (CDAs), under Abeokuta North state constituency in Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun State have been provided with motorised boreholes to ameliorate their access to portable water in their various communities.
In addition, 118 members of the constituency also got financial aid as part of efforts to make life abundant for them.
The gesture was initiated by Olayiwola Ojodu, member representing the Abeokuta North constituency in the State House of Assembly.
Speaking at the handover ceremony in Abeokuta, Ojodu, said that the motorised bore holes were located at Owu-Ogbe, Sabo, Lafenwa Abule Otun, Ita Ojodu Ilawo and Idiya, stressing that the projects were facilitated in line with the demand of the various communities.
According to him, the projects were being handed over to the communities to ensure effective maintenance, promote efficiency and durability.
Ojodu, who also rolled out token financial support to 118 members of his constituency, said the gesture was meant to assist the people and make life more abundant.
The Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Suraj Ishola Afekunbi, who was the special guest at the ceremony, explained that the best way to ensure effective protection and durability of any project is to involve the community from conceptualisation to execution stage.
While soliciting for the continued support of the people to achieve the success of the ongoing rebuilding mission of the state government, Adekunbi commended the governor, Sen. Ibikunle Amosun, for putting in place the necessary enabling environment to ensure that the lawmakers in the state give back to their constituencies.
He lauded Ojodu for facilitating projects that would have direct impact on the life of the people, assuring that the eighth legislature in the state would continue to do its best to advance the overall development of the state.
