Church elder, 66, seeks dissolutio­n of 5-year-old marriage over lack of care

An elder at Mountain of Fire Ministry, Mr. Alaba Aribisala, yesterday asked an Ado-Ekiti Customary Court to dissolve his five-year-old marriage with his wife, Adenine, on the ground of lack of care for him.

Aribisala, 66, a building contractor who resides at 13, Temidire Quatre, Egbewa street, Ado-Ekiti, told the court that his wife has not been taking good care of him since 2012 when they started dating.

He alleged that the respondent was fond of preparing food for her children who are twins and neglecting his own meal.

The father of two children, said that the respondent neither cleaned their house nor helped him wash his dirty clothes.

The petitioner also explained that, whenever he corrected the respondent, because of her bad attitudes, she would start cursing him.

Alaba said he no longer loved the respondent again because she did not pray for his success in his businesses.

He prayed to the court to dissolve his associatio­n with the respondent to allow him have peace of mind.

The petitioner further prayed the court to award the custody of his two children to the respondent because the twins are just four years and four months old.

Alaba said he would, on monthly basis, giving N3,000 as feeding allowance to the twins and he would be responsibl­e for their education at all levels.

The respondent, Mrs Adenike Aribisala, 37, a tailor, denied all the allegation­s levelled against her.

The President of the Court, Mrs Olayinka Akomolede, after hearing from both parties, adjourned the case to October 26, for judgment.
