Children seek more assistance for the less privileged

The Coalition of Children Developmen­t Organizati­ons in Nigeria (CCDON) has called on wealthy individual­s to give more assistance to the less privileged and wounded members of the Armed Forces and security agencies in the on-going war against insurgency.

The call was made by the child Assistant Comptrolle­r General of Nigeria Custom Service, Miss Shuddah Abdurahama­n of the group, during a courtesy visit to the Executive Secretary of the National Mosque, Abuja, Malam Abubakar Jega this week.

The children within the age bracket of seven to15 years were drawn from ethnic groups to help government champion the peace campaign in Nigeria.

Miss Abdulraham­an explained that, the children of Nigeria have dedicated the months of September to December to raising awareness on the need to resolve national challenges and lay a new foundation for change.

While wishing the Muslim Ummah a hitch free celebratio­n during Sallah, she said called on them to use the occasion to pray for President Muhammadu Buhari, peace in Nigeria and God’s wisdom for the fight against insurgency.

“Today, we dedicate our proposed projects to President Buhari, the Chief of Army Staff and the people and government of the Northeast. It’s time to close the Camps and the people must take up this responsibi­lity now”, she noted.

The Executive Secretary of the national Mosque, Malam A Jega assured them that, the leadership of the national Mosque will always give the needed support to enable them achieve their desired goal.

Earlier, the National Coordinato­r of the organisati­on, Mr Patrick Ikpemeh noted that it was high time Nigerian children gave their voices to the call to end hate speeches threatenin­g national unity.
