History favours Super Eagles against Lions of Cameroon – Lumumba

- By David Ngobua

A former Nigeria Football Federation presidential aspirant, Hon. Lumumba Dah Adeh has said even as Cameroon pose a serious threat to Nigeria, history favours the Super Eagles to win today’s 2018 World Cup qualifying match in Uyo.

Although Eagles are going into the match as group leaders, some Nigerians are not so sure of what will happen today when the two giants clash at the Nest of champions.

However, the former member of the House of Representatives from Plateau State said looking at the record between the two countries, he is confident that Eagles will triumph over Cameroon.

“I am worried. I am worried because I definitely love Nigeria to be in Russia. Before the Nations Cup which Cameroon won, I even boasted to some friends that we were already in Russia.

“And considering the state of the other teams in our group and the form of Cameroon before the nations Cup, I was so confident.

“Now the Nations Cup and the Confederation Cup have given Cameroon a very big boost, confidence wise and opportunity for better cohesion. So they are a big threat to us. And therefore I am worried

Lumumba however said history favours the Super Eagles to beat the Lions of Cameroon.

“I know these kind of matches are not won only on the field of play. History plays a role also. If you look at the records, we have an edge over them and considering the array of players we have, it is my wish they rise to the occasion.

“From the reports I have followed in the media about their state of readiness, my confidence is up there. From the two matches even if we do not get four points in the minimum, we should get at least three points,” he said.
