17 Nigerian sport administrators get training in strategic planning
17 Nigerian sports administrator have gone through a 7-day training programme in strategic planning tagged: “Strategic Planning Facilitators’ Course”.
The training was staged by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) through the Olympic Solidarity.
The participants were drawn from the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports, National Institute for Sports, Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa, Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), Sokoto State Ministry of Youth and Sports, Bayelsa State Ministry of Youth and Sports while a sports consultant, Dr. Kweku Tandoh also attended.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the training programme in Abuja on Wednesday, the President of NOC, Habu Ahmed Gumel said the course was a follow up to the basic strategic planning seminar organised by the NOC for secretaries of National Sport Federations and the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports in 2016.
He said the objective of the course was to train strategic planning officers who will in then train secretaries of National Sport Federations and other stakeholders to formulate and implement strategic plans.
Gumel who thanked IOC and Olympic Solidarity for organising the training exercise, stressed that strategic planning was important in running the country’s sports system.
“In the era of technological advancement, only those who are quick to adapt to change would be able to perform their duties in line with global standards,” he stressed.
