CRIME Woman accused of poisoning husband Policeman arrested for collecting N60,000 marked money

Detectives from Federal Criminal Investigat­ion Department (FCID), Alagbon close, Ikoyi, have arrested a police Inspector, Okoi Etim, for allegedly collecting the sum of N60,000 from an hotelier in Badagry area of Lagos.

The suspect was said to have gone to demand for the money from the hotelier, claiming that he was sent by the area commander.

It was gathered that while the policeman was still at the hotel expecting to collect the money, the hotelier put a call through to the area commander requesting to know if she actually sent the Inspector to collect the money.

She also sent one of her aides to hand over to the hotelier N60,000 cash which were all marked. An impeccable source told Daily Trust that the money was later handed over to the Inspector. He was consequent­ly arrested by some detectives from area K at the instance of the Area commander.

He was taken to the station where he was detained until the arrival of police from FCID.

Investigat­ion by the detectives from FCID revealed that the suspect was always in the habit of extorting money from the hoteliers in the area.

Another police source at FCID said that the department has received several petitions from hotel owners alleging massive extortion against the Inspector.

Confusion has continued to trail the death of one Musa Dogon-Kwalli, 50, of BCJ area of Funtua town, Katsina State.

Kwalli, who died on Sallah day, was alleged to have been poisoned and killed by one of his wives identified simply as Shamsiya, while others say he died of a heart attack.

Daily Trust gathered that Shamshiya is now on the run.

Witnesses said DogonKwall­i was rushed to the hospital after eating a meal purportedl­y presented to him by the wife.

Dogon-Kwalli, who has since been buried according to Islamic rites, was said to have been for long under threat by the wife for his new marriage.

The wife was angered and disturbed since Dogon-Kwalli added a new bride. She, to the hearing of many, had threatened to kill him.

However, another source said when Dogon-Kwalli was taken to the hospital a doctor said he wasn’t poisoned but died as a result of heart attack.

He said Shamshiyya has been found and returned to her matrimonia­l home.

When contacted the spokesman of Katsina Police Command DSP Gambo Isah promised to make enquiries and get back but never did up to the time of going to press.
