Yarma backs Super Eagles to do the double over Cameroon

- By David Ngobua

Former Executive Chairman of Gombe State Sports Comission, Malam Farouk Yarma is backing the Super Eagles to record back to back victories over the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon.

The Super Eagles had crushed the reigning African champions 4-0 in the first leg of the double header played last Friday in Uyo.

The arch-rivals will meet again today in Yaoundé with the Super Eagles firmly on top of Group B on nine points while Cameroon are third with only two points recorded from two draws.

Speaking to Daily Trust, the Gombe State Commissioner for Youth Empowerment said going by the performance of the Super Eagles in the first leg, he has no doubt in his mind that Cameroon will suffer another defeat in Yaounde.

He said it will take the Lions of Cameroon a long time to recover from the shock of the thrashing they received in the hands of the Super Eagles.

The proprietor of Yarmalight however FC said the Super Eagles should not take anything for granted as he noted that the wounded Lions will do everything possible to save their faces.

“I want to congratulate the Super Eagles on their well deserved victory over the Lions of Cameroon. Although only a few people gave them any chance of recording such a big win, they did the country proud.

“As a result, I am tipping them to do the double over their opponents. The Lions having been wounded badly will come charging but I am sure the Eagles will still beat them or get at least a draw.

“This is not to say the Eagles should be complacent. Until the ticket to Russia 2018 is in the kitty, the Eagles should not take chances,” he advised.
