Sallah: Families visit parks, celebrate with orphans

- From Christiana T. Alabi, Kaduna

Sallah celebration in Kaduna State was fun as different families and organizations celebrated it in various places.

Children moved around in their Sallah clothes, visiting friends and families in what is called ‘Yawo Sallah’ while some visited parks to catch fun. Those who had the wherewithal visited different parks and recreational centres to catch fun while other children had fun in their homes.

Also, some families spent their Sallah day at children playground celebrating with orphans and the less privileged.

Daily Trust gathered that orphans were invited by Alilm Foundation, a charity organization to Buzzbee at Gobarau road in Kaduna for the celebration where they wined and dined with other children from different families.

According to an official of Alilm Foundation, Aisha Yakubu, the gesture was to give the less privileged a sense of belonging and make them happy during the festive period.

Different families who came along with varieties of foods, drinks and assorted meats shared with the orphans in the spirit of oneness while the children played and danced together.

One of the children at the event, Raheema Ibrahim expressed happiness celebrating this year’s Sallah with the orphans, saying she had learnt to give thanks to God at all times.

Our reporter who also visited an amusement park, Pixie -Dixie situated at Mogadishu right from the entrance where tickets were issued, observed low turnout of customers.

In spite of the availability of toys, including cars, airplanes and bouncing castles among many others, only few children were seen at the park. It was also observed that the number of children that visited Kidz mania at Ungwar Rimi was less than the number that thronged the place last year Sallah.

The manager of Pixie-Dixie, Mr Walter Tempo blamed the low patronage on the economic situation of the country.

“Although the park came into existence in this place last year, as such, majority of people do not know this place but with more publicity, we believe patronage will increase gradually,” he said.
