Group kicks against Kuku’s appointment as FCT judge
An anti-corruption organization, Nigerians United In Diaspora Against Corruption (NUIDAC), has petitioned President Muhammadu Buhari over the recommendation of Mrs. Tarere Vivienne NnamaniKuku as a judge of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court.
Nnamani-Kuku, the wife of Special Adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan on Niger Delta Affairs and Chairman of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Kingsley Kuku, is said to have been recommended by the FCT Judicial Service Committee to the National Judicial Commission (NJC) for appointment as a FCT High Court judge.
The organization faulted the recommendation on the basis that Kingsley Kuku is facing multiple charges bothering on corruption before the same FCT High Court to which his wife has been nominated to serve.
This concern was conveyed in a petition jointly signed by the president and secretary of the anti-graft campaign organization, Obinna Onoruwo and Gbenga Adekunle, which was addressed to President Muhammadu Buhari and the Chairman of NJC.
The group alleged that Nnamani-Kuku’s husband fled the country in 2015 under the pretext of seeking medical attention in the United States. It added that she has visited her husband on several occasions in the US since 2015 and remained a link with his contacts in Nigeria.
