Nwoye blames Obiano’s failure on advisers

- From Emma Elekwa, Awka

The gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Tony Nwoye, has attributed the poor performance of Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State to those he surrounded himself with.

He said the refusal of his advisers, including his commissioners, to tell him the truth on the reality on ground has further worsened the situation.

Addressing journalists in Awka, shortly after a brief meeting with party executives in the state, the 43-year-old medical doctor accused the governor of betraying the confidence reposed on him by the masses who voted him into power.

He reminded the governor of his campaign promises, advising him to stop deceiving the citizenry that the state is bankrupt when state governments continued to enjoy monthly allocations.

The House of Representatives member called for urgent rehabilitation of all the deplorable hospitals across the state to allow the people get good medical attention.

Nwoye, who defeated Senator Andy Uba and others to pick the party ticket, said he would reduce hunger in the state if voted to power.

In a swift reaction, however, Obiano said no amount of hate campaign against him would change the minds of the electorate in the state from voting for him in the November poll.

Speaking through his media aide, Oliver Okpala, Obiano said Nwoye lacked the competence to be a local government chairman, not to talk of governor of a state as Anambra.

He asked those eyeing his seat to tell the people of the state what they would do differently to better their lot instead of engaging in calumny and destructive gimmicks.
