Again gunmen storm Malumfashi, rob residents
Armed robbers have attacked Malumfashi town again where they robbed no fewer than 10 houses.
This is the second attack on the town in three weeks.
The gunmen had earlier stormed the area and kidnapped an 11-year-old girl, Nana Mansur, who was released after payment of undisclosed ransom.
Yesterday’s attack lasted for two hours and is causing serious tension and apprehension among the residents of the town.
A source told Daily Trust that the gunmen attacked the town at about 1.30am and for over two hours were shooting sporadically into the air.
He said the most affected areas were Gangarawa, Dan Fili and Unguwar Sodangi, noting that sounds of gunshots ceased after 3.15 am.
It was in the morning that we realised that close to 10 houses were robbed and people dispossessed of valuables, including cars and various amounts of money, he added
“We are now living in fear; this is the second time, we fear for our lives, the attacks are becoming deadly. The security agents should please come to our aid,” he said.
However when contacted the Katsina State Police Command spokesman, DSP Gambo Isah, who confirmed the attack said the police have not made any arrest yet, noting that ‘no one was injured and nothing was stolen during the attack’.
