Kebbi revives monthly sanitation exercise
Kebbi State Government said it has revived and would enforce a monthly sanitation exercise in the state.
While addressing journalists at the Government House after the monthly Executive Council meeting, the state Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Musa Hassan Kalgo said the monthly sanitation exercise would commence this month. “It has been resuscitated and would be effective from the last Saturday of September,” he said.
He added that the committee that was set up by the previous administration on the sanitation exercise stopped functioning years after it was set up.
He said, “The relevant committees such as Kebbi Urban Development Authority (KUDA), the Ministries of the Environment, Health and security agencies have been set up to fashion out how to make the sanitation exercise effective in the state.”
The commissioner also said the state executive council had approved the upgrading of School of Health Technology in Jega to a College of health science.
He said this was to make for an institution that could issue certificates that would be accepted nationwide.
“The state executive council has also awarded N1.5bn contract to BILAL Africa Operations Nigeria Limited for the reconstruction of the Birnin Kebbi Central market that was gutted by fire last year,” he said.
