Ogun Home-Owners Charter: 1000 Cs of O, others to be ready twice monthly

- From Kehinde Akinyemi, Abeokuta

The Ogun State government yesterday disclosed that 1000 Certificates of Occupancy (Cs of O) and other titled documents will now be available twice a month for beneficiaries of the stateinitiated Home-Owners Charter scheme.

This was made known by the Special Adviser/Director- General of the Ogun State Bureau of Lands and Survey, Biyi Ismail, at the presentation of another batch of 1000 Cs of O and other land documents at the Oba Complex, OkeMosan, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

The scheme, which started in 2013, affords home owners about 75 per cent rebate in acquiring the essential documents on their property.

The Special Adviser/Director-General of the Ogun State Bureau of Lands and Survey, Biyi Ismail, who disclosed it, said that it was part of moves to ensure that all participants in the scheme were presented with their documents before the end of the present administration in the state.

The Special Assistant on Lands, Mrs Bimbo Odukoya, had last July, while appearing before the House of Assembly committee on Lands and Housing, hinted that the Bureau planned 4000 of such Cs of O monthly.

Odukoya had explained that the process of issuance of Certificates of Occupancy under the Home-Owner programme was an inter-agency arrangement involving the Ministry of Urban and Physical Planning, Bureau of Lands, Ministry of Finance, Internal Revenue Services and the Ogun State Property and Investment Corporation.
