CITY NEWS 2 kids, 7 oth­ers in­jured in bus crash at Abaji

Nine pas­sen­gers, among them two kids, sus­tained in­juries af­ter their bus crashed at Abaji, on the Abuja-Lokoja road.

A wit­ness said the ac­ci­dent hap­pened at about 11:am yes­ter­day when the driver of a Toy­ota Si­enna bus lost con­trol and crashed into a ditch.

He said the driver had sud­denly ap­plied the brakes af­ter a tyres burst, adding the bus som­er­saulted and crashed into the bush, leav­ing the pas­sen­gers, among them two kids, in­jured.

He said men of the Fed­eral Road Safety Corps (FRSC) ar­rived the scene to evac­u­ate the vic­tims to hos­pi­tal.

When con­tacted, the Abaji unit com­man­der of the FRSC, As­sis­tant Corps Com­man­der (ACC), Ola­supo Esu­ru­oso, con­firmed the in­ci­dent, say­ing the in­jured were taken to Abaji Gen­eral Hos­pi­tal.

He at­trib­uted the ac­ci­dent to tyre burst, over speed­ing and loss of con­trol.

He added that two per­sons were also in­jured in an­other ac­ci­dent which oc­curred at Chikara vil­lage, also on the Abuja-Lokoja road.

He said the ac­ci­dent in­volved a Golf car with reg­is­tra­tion num­ber RA 10 EKY, adding that the driver was speed­ing when he lost con­trol and crashed.

He said the two in­jured per­sons were taken to hos­pi­tal for treat­ment.
