CITY NEWS 2 kids, 7 others injured in bus crash at Abaji

Nine passengers, among them two kids, sustained injuries after their bus crashed at Abaji, on the Abuja-Lokoja road.

A witness said the accident happened at about 11:am yesterday when the driver of a Toyota Sienna bus lost control and crashed into a ditch.

He said the driver had suddenly applied the brakes after a tyres burst, adding the bus somersault­ed and crashed into the bush, leaving the passengers, among them two kids, injured.

He said men of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) arrived the scene to evacuate the victims to hospital.

When contacted, the Abaji unit commander of the FRSC, Assistant Corps Commander (ACC), Olasupo Esuruoso, confirmed the incident, saying the injured were taken to Abaji General Hospital.

He attributed the accident to tyre burst, over speeding and loss of control.

He added that two persons were also injured in another accident which occurred at Chikara village, also on the Abuja-Lokoja road.

He said the accident involved a Golf car with registrati­on number RA 10 EKY, adding that the driver was speeding when he lost control and crashed.

He said the two injured persons were taken to hospital for treatment.
