- From Linus Effiong, Umuahia

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State yesterday thanked President Mohammadu Buhari for his prompt intervention in averting a catastrophe in the South East and restoring normalcy.

Ikpeazu said for the past two years the state has been battling to draw positive attention to the state by “selling to the entire world the ingenuity, industries and hard work of our young ones in showcasing made in Aba products, when federal government has promised the various industrial clusters constant electricity it’s at this moment that the devil chose to strike.

Ikpeazu spoke yesterday during his sympathy visit to the state secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Abia State Council following the invasion of the Press Centre by the soldiers Tuesday last week.

He said was only concerned about the gravity of what would have happened if the crises had escalated.

He said with the statistics released by the Chairman Igbo union in the North, a total of 16 million Igbo including children would have been affected if not for divine intervention.

"The Igbos are everywhere, even in Sambisa, we go everywhere and do business, it shows that we are confident that this country belongs to all of us, whether there are grievances, or issues or grudges among us the answer is yes, even the worst of wars always end up on the table, why can't we return to the table and talk about our grievances.”
