Nigeria’s sports will rise again – Dalung

- By Orkula Shaagee

The Minister of Youth and Sports Barrister Solomon Dalung says that Nigeria’s sport sector is gradually bouncing back to reckoning with the latest successes achieved by some sports federations.

Dalung made the remark yesterday while eulogizing the senior men’s national basketball team, D’Tigers for clinching silver at the just-ended FIBA Men’s AfroBasket Championship held in Dakar and Tunisia last week.

While commending the players for a successful outing in at the Championship, Dalung noted that the dedication and professionalism exhibited by the Nigeria Basketball Federation led by Engr Musa Kida has brought out the best in the players.

“On behalf of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari and the good people of Nigeria, I wish to heartily congratulate you on your feat at the just concluded FIBA Afrobasket in Tunisia. We acknowledge the sacrifices the players and officials made to bring glory to our fatherland. There is no greater sacrifice than using your energy and resources to ensure that Nigeria’s name is once again etched in silver on the continent.

“Just two weeks ago, the NBBF won gold in the Women’s Afrobasket. Again, you have shown by this latest victory that the first was not a fluke. You have worked so hard in training and here is the result of your hard work, team work and determination. Nigerians are proud of you and you will be rewarded accordingly at the appointed time”.
