Group supports proscription of IPOB
The Nigeria Leadership Development Association (NILDA) has thrown its weight behind the proscription of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Daily Trust reports that IPOB was recently proscribed by South East governors, just as it was designated as a terrorist organization by the Nigerian military.
The association, in a communiqué signed by its chairman Prof. Sule Bello and Interim Director for Public Affairs Lawal Na Rogo likened the IPOB to Boko Haram.
It commended the South-East governors for the respect they have shown for the national constitution, human rights and the rule of law in the country.
The association called on the Federal Government to uphold the Constitutional provisions of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and also enforce the rule of law in the country, without fear or favour.
The association also commended Kano State Government and the Kano community in general, over the patriotic display they promoted in support of unity and peaceful coexistence in the nation in general, and the state in particular.
The group, which is a collection of political stakeholders at various levels, urged all Nigerians to be law abiding citizens as well as uphold the rule of law and constitutionalism in the nation.
