‘Operation begins at N1.6bn Lokoja mega terminal soon’
The Lokoja mega terminal built at the cost of N1.6 billion by the administration of former governor Idris Wada is to be refurbished and put to full operation soon.
Daily Trust reports that the Lokoja mega park which was inaugurated on January 20, 2016, has remained dormant since then.
The State Commissioner for Transportation, Prince Sani Salisu, who disclosed this yesterday in Lokoja, said the move followed an approval given to the ministry by the State Executive Council to embark on public transport infrastructure development projects across Lokoja metropolis.
He said that once the mega park is refurbished, all other parks currently operating inter-state services within Lokoja township, New Market and Nataco would be relocated there to continue their transport services.
Salisu said the council also approved the construction of two mini terminals at Zango Daji and Ganaja village axis to serve as intercity parks for operators within Lokoja metropolis.
The commissioner said it equally approved projects for the construction of ‘New Confluence City Gate’ to serve a welcome purpose to the Confluence State for commuters coming from Abuja as well as improvement works on road junctions in Lokoja township and construction of bus stop shelters within it.
