Women must serve as agents of reconciliation, peace – Dolapo

- By Ruby Leo

The wife of the vice president, Mrs Dolapo Osinbajo, has called on all women to act as agents of reconciliation and peace builders to help restore the glories of Nigeria.

Mrs Osinbajo who was speaking during the Greater Women Pilgrimage Convocation organised by the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), added that women have the capacity to aid the men in national development as well as bring peace to troubled places in the country.

She noted that women have been designed by God as destiny moulders and therefore must take up their rightful position as agents of peace in all spheres of the nation by aiding in restoring harmony.

She said, “We as women have the capacity to labour for the good of our home and society, and we handle these affairs well, so we must also use it to assist in building our nation.”

Speaking on the pilgrimage to Jerusalem, the wife of the vice president advised that the activity should be seen as a spiritual exercise rather than a holiday.

“Women, I urge you to try and visit Jerusalem, use the opportunity to pray for our country, Nigeria, and most importantly for our President and other leaders that they always do the will of God,” Dolapo urged.

Earlier, the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC), Mr. Tor Uja, had explained that the essence of the conference was to mobilise more women to go to Israel to visit strategic sites and to pray for the good of the nation.

He said, “In many parts of Nigeria, it is women that are behind the successes of our economic life, especially in areas of farming, trading, cooking and management of our homes, so we believe that if women rise up to do the things that they are doing they will reposition this nation to greater heights.”

Uja stated that the all women pilgrimage will be in May 2018 and that the event was to give them ample time to raise funds for the religious activity as well as prepare adequately for the journey.

He added that though it would cost about N1 million, women can begin to pay installmentally so that the burden will not be too much when it was time for the trip.

He told those intending to embark on the journey to make payment only to commercial banks and also write directly to him if they encountered any problems in the course of their preparation.
