- By Saawua Terzungwe

The campaign organization of PDP National Publicity Secretary, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, yesterday, protested the ‘adoption’ of Ekiti State deputy governor, Prof. Olusola Eleka, as candidate of the party ahead of the 2018 governorship poll in the state.

In a protest letter signed by over 180 PDP members drawn from all the wards in the 16 local government areas of Ekiti State, the organ called for the dissolution of the state executive.

The letter was submitted to the office of PDP national caretaker committee chairman Senator Ahmed Makarfi.

The leader of the group said Eleka’s adoption by Governor Ayo Fayose was “an act of impunity.”

The petitioners also asked the party’s national leadership not to recognise Eleka, saying there could be crisis in the state chapter of the party if PDP failed to act accordingly.

“Fayose hoodwinked some officers of our party into the adoption of his deputy, Prof. Olusola Eleka, as the sole candidate for the 2018 gubernatorial election, which is yet to be declared open by our party national leadership as provided for in our constitution particularly at Section 50 (1) (2) & (2b) and Electoral Act 2010.

“We are not unaware of their fundamental right to support any aspirant, but it must be done in a manner that will preserve the rights of other aspirants to have a level playing ground in the contest,” they said.
