Illegal firearms: Agora of Zuba summons chiefs

The Agora of Zuba, Alhaji Muhammad Bello Umar, has summoned the village chiefs of Shenagu, Tungan Malam Hassan and Chitumu to his palace following alleged discovery of an illegal firearms fabricatio­n factory by men of the FCT police at Shenagu village.

Others who were also summoned at the palace were the district heads of Tungan Maje and Yimi, Alhaji Hassan Barde and Malam Ibrahim Akoyi respective­ly.

Bello, who addressed newsmen at his palace after he met with the village chiefs and district heads, said he summoned the traditiona­l rulers under his chiefdom to verify the claim from the police that an illegal firearms factory was discovered at Shenagu village.

He said he was shocked when he heard that some suspects were arrested by the police at Shenagu village over alleged fabricatio­n of illegal firearms.

He said all the chiefs denied knowledge of the arrest of the suspects in their villages.

“I was shocked when I heard over the news that police have arrested some people in connection to making of illegal firearms at Shenagu village, which prompted me to summon the village chiefs and district heads to find out from them. But they all said they were not aware it,” he said.

The traditiona­l ruler noted that the news of the discovery of the of illegal firearms factory has dented the image of his chiefdom. He urged the village chiefs and district heads to always ensure they knew the people that come to their domains.

He added, “In fact, I was also not aware of the incident, until I started receiving phone calls and I immediatel­y directed that the village chiefs and district heads of those areas should come so that I will enquire from them,” he added.
