Professionals plan workshop on harmonious relationships in health sector
A workshop on how to ensure harmonious working relationship between professionals within the health sector is being organized by the Committee of Registrars of Health Professions (CRHP).
The chairman of the committee, Alhaji Mohammed Ibrahim Mami, said it had become necessary with the backdrop of the incessant industrial actions in the health sector and its attendant effect on the quality of service delivery in the country.
Speaking when he led a delegation on a visit to the Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole in Abuja, Mami called on the Federal Government to increase the budgetary allocations of regulatory organisations under the Federal Ministry of Health.
He said that would enable the organisations effectively carry out their regulatory activities and visit the about 35,000 health facilities in the country.
Mami who is also the Registrar, Health Records Officers Registration Board of Nigeria, called for office accommodation for most of the regulatory bodies as some of them were still in Lagos while others operated in rented properties in Abuja due to lack of accommodation.
Mami also appealed to the minister to look into the speedy reconstitution of boards of the organisations.
The committee also urged the minister to allow the placement of its members on internship programme amongst others.
The Minister of Health, Professor Adewole, enjoined leaders of health professional bodies to ensure harmonious working relationship among their members.
He stressed that more regular meetings between various health associations and the Federal Ministry of Health would help the sector nip brewing challenges in the bud.
