FCE Zaria wins colleges of education football competition
The first edition of the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) male football competition ended Sunday evening at the Federal College of Education (FCE), Zaria, with the host winning the completion after defeating Federal College of Education (FCE), Kano 1-0.
Speaking during the ceremony, the Executive Secretary of the NCCE, Professor Bappa Aliyu Muhammadu, said the essence of the competition was to strengthen relationship amongst the country’s colleges of education. Muhammadu promised to include other sports in the next edition of the competition.
“In the nearest future, the competition would cover other segments of sports, while the female players too will be engaged to give them a sense of belonging,” he added.
In his speech, the Provost of FCE, Zaria, Dr. Ango Ladan, lauded the choice of the college to host the competition.
The chairperson of the Local Organising Committee (LOC), Jummai Suleiman, said the idea of the competition emanated after a successful outing of the NCCE at the Federation of Public Service Games (FEPSGA), which took place in Jos last year.
She said the competition was meant to improve the mental and physical fitness of staff of NCCE and colleges of education, as well as to create a forum for interaction and association.
Daily Trust reports that 10 Colleges of Education from different parts of the country took part in the competition.
